Apple TV is too big

For some reason the Apple TV is 7.7 x 7.7 inches.

Why oh why did Apple have to go and make it different.

Just when it looks like the mac mini form factor is going to get some love, they screw it up.

It would have been better to make it a little taller and keep the foot print the same.

Vertically? I have no idea, I'm far off from getting an HDTV or anything remotely superior to my 27" Sanyo SD CRT.

Isn't it supposed to go on top of your DVD/HD DVD/Blu-ray player, and isn't everyone who owns an ultra thin plasma expected to own such a player?

Ryan's right - the box does looks odd beside a hung flat screen, unless you place a vase of flowers on top

They should have put some more features in the thing. Like allow one to stream Google Video / YouTube to their TV. Oh, and play homemade videos too.

I also find it odd that the Apple TV is 7.7"x7.7" while the Mac mini and new Airport Extreme are 6.5"x6.5".

You would think they'd standardize the size so you can stack them, etc.

Why would you stack an Apple TV on top of a Mac mini?
