Apple TV Eventually to Have Digital Terrestrial Functionality?

Hey- I've recently bought Miglia's TV Mini DVB Digital Terrestrial Receiver for the Mac and noticed that the IR receiver picks up signals from the Apple remote- although it does nothing with these signals. I also noticed that the Apple TV has space for a USB device such as this. I am starting to wonder if the Apple TV will eventually be compatible with devices such as the TV Mini. This would be a logical step and would add a whole new concept to Apple's TV device.

It could be me jumping the gun completely but wouldn't it be a logical step for Apple- Let me know if it would be technically possible.

Forgive me if I'm not thinking straight on this, but what's the purpose for Apple TV to have a receiver? The point of Apple TV is to connect the content on your Mac to your TV. Your TV already has a tuner. You wouldn't connect your Apple TV just top your Mac -- because all of your content is already there.

Now, if you could get Apple TV to also work like Tivo, that would be another story all together!

When Apple eventually offers a TV subscription service with some live content, you can dump your terrestrial digital altogether. That's where Apple TV is going. And if Apple delivers with there all-in-one television, with slot-load DVD player and Apple iTV built-in. With that and their TV service, we can get all we want all in one place.

The Miglia TV Mini does work like Tivo- Plus over here TV's either come with freeview built in (Standard Digi Terrest) or Analogue signal. No TV offers Tivo built in so it would come in handy. EyeTV does let you record TV just as if it were a Tivo set- why wouldn't this be good to have on an Apple TV- thus dispensing the fiddly burnable DVD or VHS tapes and going straight to harddrive?

With all respect Ireland your option already exists in the form of a Mac Mini!
