I'm thinking of purchasing three iMac G3s from a friend. They're 400mhz and only have 64 MB of ram. (they have FW port)

Will they be able to run OS X (10.3 or 10.4) and MS office (X or 2004?)

If so, how well?

I'm thinking of purchasing these as gifts for lil cousins who don't have a computer at all, so they'll be used for internet and maybe Office

Yes ... but they'll probably test the patience of young users ... try to find 256 (or more) of RAM to put in each of them and you will have perfectly workable machines even running 10.4. The tuff part is finding PC100/133 SODIMMs at a reasonable price .... almost cheaper to buy a used Mac Mini (but then you still need a LCD.)

That said, the video capabilities of that machine are limited ... it sometimes has problems playing large Flash animations and h264 QT stuff very smoothly ... and such things are often a "staple" of my kids online viewing.
