Well, I don't know if it runs that much better, but it launches faster, it scrolls properly AND it is literally half the size of the old app--it went from 75 megs to 35 megs.
Anyway, why use Acrobat Reader? Preview works great and is faster.</strong><hr></blockquote>
For some people, simply Acrobat Reader works better. For example, try to print from Preview a pdf (containing mathematical symbols of several sizes) created with TeXShop. Total dissapointment, it "cuts" unacceptably portions of the text. Acrobat Reader, although much slower to handle the same document, just prints correctly. Which of the two you would use? I am using the two programs, depending on the task to accomplish.
For whatever reason, Adobe doesn't like to provide release notes or a list of what's new - they just expect everyone to download 25 MB worth of Reader and hope for the best.
That said, there are comments on VT to the effect that scrollwheel support is still missing in Reader. No way I'll download a new version (at 56k) until the scrollwheel support is there (at a minimum).

Interesting. I replied to this post hours ago, but it is nowhere to be found, so if it shows up, I apoligize for the double post.
I am neither blind nor retarded, but thanks for the concern Fobie. The thread stated that there was a new version of Acrobat. Not Acrobat Reader. So I was looking for Acrobat. I see now that there is a new version of Acrobat Reader, but since I don't give a rat's ass about the Reader, I wasn't looking for it.
Just as Flash and the Flash Player are two different things, Acrobat and the Acrobat Reader are too.

Scrolling? No. Read above.
