Where's Backup when I need it

For years I have used Backup from .Mac. Recently, I found my Address Book empty and figured Backup was the easiest and most logical place from which to back it up. I have, I thought, backed up AddressBook each day. When I opened Backup I found that I had backed the data up each day. Yet, when I clicked on restore the previous backups only went to May, 2006. When I clicked on Plan and then restore I could find AddressBook, but it was not in bold so I could not select it. Fortunately, I had a copy of the backuped AddressBook on another hard drive because Backup (the .Mac utility) let me down. I can't seem to find out what else I may have done in help. Can anyone else help me? Thanks

In addition to your strategy, try this.

Go to File in the menubar and then select "Backup Address Book". Create a new folder named AddressBook Backup in your Documents Folder or whatever is best for you. Now whenever you do this, it will be backed up into this folder. Restore is easy.

Don't know what happened to you so can't be of much help in that regard.

Hint. You can also do this with iCal.

Over a year ago, I saw this article on a blog regarding Backup 3.

    From the article:

    Quote:

Backup 3 fails exactly where backup software is not permitted to fail: restoring data. Hardened sysadmins know to initially and continually test data restoration. What?s the point of backing up if you can?t get your data out later?

I use to use Backup religiously, but now I use SuperDuper!.

    Think about switching.

Thank you so much. I can't get to it until tonight, but I am looking forward to it.

Thanks, Cake. I hope I don't have to change, but if so, I will.

Also keep in mind that when Leopard (10.5) is released this coming spring, it will include Time Machine.
