Two versions of Mac OS X on one machine?
Can I install two versions of Mac OS X (10.3 and 10.4) on one machine? I plan to use a separate hard drive for each version. The reason I need to do this is that I have proprietary software that will only run on 10.3 and other software that will run on 10.4. Any suggestions? Thanks -james

At boot, hold down the option key, and it will bring up a boot volume picker, where you can select the version you want to boot from. I have a machine in the other room with 10.2.x, 10.3.x, 10.4.x, and 9.2.2 on it.
can one install OS X on an external drive?
Absolutely. Note, however, that many (but not all) PowerPC-based Macs cannot boot off USB, only FireWire. All Intel Macs can boot off both USB and FireWire.

No, I haven't succeeded in booting Windows off an external HD yet.

Sorry, booting with bootcamp off of an external HD is not supported yet.
