Macs & LCD monitors

Hi, I have recently bought by first Mac (bookPro) and am loving it. I have no complaints, except for the fact that it is not compatible with certain hardware. I bought a Samsung LCD monitor, for example, and found that I needed the adapter/DVI-VGA converter to make it work. That means that it turned out to be a VGA monitor while i payed for a DVI monitor. Also the software was only compatible with windows.

I've returned it to the store and am now looking for a good LCD screen that is 100% compatible with a MacBookPro. Does anyone have any tips (except for the expensive Apple screens)? thanks.

Gateway makes some great monitors with not only VGA and DVI, but component, S-video and more.

Thanks for the reply. The Samsung monitor i bought had those connections as well, but for some reason it wouldnt let me connect the DVI cable.

Have you used these Gateway monitors with a mac?

I just ordered HPs L2335... the reviews are excellent. Note the many connection options. The latter combined with ability to pivot from landscape to portrait mode and lower price make it a better value than Apple's offering.

If you like this monitor but don't want to pay this much $ consider its less expensive sibling, the HP F2304 http://reviews.cnet.com/HP_F2304/450...-30871933.html

If you are really on a budget then consider the Dell UltraSharp 2405FPW. http://www.macworld.com/2005/12/revi...0fpw/index.php

Read the consumer feedback comments for each of these monitors on Cnet and I think your choice will be clear.

Yes, I have used the 24" Gateway with my MacBook using both VGA and DVI.
