1GB Ram as Standard in new Mac with Leopard?
Will we ever see this? Since ram is now very cheap and expected to be even cheaper once more manufacture move to the smaller process.
And Leopard with total 64bit OS could handle more then 4GB memory. ( Sorry i never tested this with Tiger. But since other 32Bit OS like Vista only handle 3.5GB i suppose all other 32bit OS will be the same )
Isn't it time to move minimum spec of Mac with 1GB Ram; mainstream with 2GB and prosumer with 4GB. Given Apple and Samsung special deal the price of DRAM could be even cheaper then we could imagine.

Due to limitations of the motherboard chipset current MacBooks and MacBook Pros can't really go much higher than 3GB at which point standard sizes of 1 resp. 2GB don't leave much room for upgrades. MacBook Pros are there already today so moving the 15" to 2GB would leave the 17" with the max of 3GB - with no further room for upgrades. Not good.
With the next chipset that 3GB barrier should fall and would leave more room to differentiate the top end models from the lower end - if they were to start at 1GB.
At that time it makes sense to start with 1GB standard in Mac minis and Mac Books. It's likely the case by the end of this year.
Personally I'd expect new Mac Book Pros by May or June. So it might already happen around that time.
Aren't they just Intel chipset. I am sure on the PC side i dont have this problem. ( Apart from Vista only recognize 3.5GB of mem >< )
OT: The good thing i like about the current trend is that multicore and 2GB+ Ram would means Windows on Parallel should no longer be very performance limited.
