How to keep a Window's Partitioned MBP running smoothly

Hello all,

I bought a Macbook Pro about three weeks ago and I'm absolutely in love with it. However, there are some programs that I can't run on a Mac. So I installed Windows via Boot Camp on one partitioned hard drive and have been switching files back and forth between the two partitions. However, my concern is that I may be bogging down both OS, but particularly, the Mac OS with my file swapping/deleting. So my question is, what can I do to keep both OS's running smoothly? Will defragmentation of the Window's partition affect performance on the Mac side of things? Thanks!

You won't bog down anything on the Mac side, period. And the Mac side does not need defragmentation either because of the superior file system. On the Windows side, all the regular maintenance tasks (run defrag, anti-virus, anti-spyware etc.) must be done as in any regular Windows PC. Defragging the Windows side does not affect the Mac side at all!
