News to me. Care to elaborate on where you're hearing about these "special secret events?"

I haven't heard about any special events planned for February/March, but then I'm not really *in the know* about such things.
I do know that Intel is releasing a slightly upgraded processor in April, and so we can probably expect upgrades to some of the Macbooks/iMacs/etc. in May or June. Intel is also releasing a bigger processor upgrade at some point late in 2007, or so I've heard, called Penryn. I guess that means more upgrades will be forthcoming by early 2008 at least. Stuff for Feb/March of this year? No idea, sorry.
I think that Apple officially supports Blu-Ray, it's on the Board of Directors or something, but it's also supporting HDDVD. I doubt that Blu-ray will be standard on a Mac for quite a while, but I guess it's possible it might be an option by the end of this year (Dec '07, you said). I'm pretty sure no one knows for sure about that at this point.
Jobs did say, in his Keynote Address at the Macworld Expo, that "2007 is going to be a great year for the Mac. Over the next several months we're going to roll out some awesome stuff for the Mac." So I suppose just about anything is possible.
Cheers,

Sorry, what's the question?
Sorry, what's the question?
What is apple going do with the pissed off people with $3000-$4000 of hardware that can't use blue ray also what about the people who just got a mac pro? I would hate to be working at apple store when that happens.
When you buy something you're entering into a bargain that you believe to be beneficial to you - you're happy to purchase that computer, or whatever, for that price. If Apple then later upgrades the specification, you have no grounds for complaint - you were happy with the deal when you made it. There was a fable that illustrated this very point, but I cannot find it.
Uhm, yeah, I second this. Sorry Joe_the_Dragon, but I think this guy has a point, and he phrases it quite well. Most people aren't going to go complain about that sort of thing anyway; the few people that do go complain will probably just have eyes rolled at them because they're being so childish.
Joe, do you actually OWN a Mac?
I have an old ppc 604e system and I'm looking at e-bay off older ppc g4 and g5 parts. The mac pro costs too much and there is no min-end headless system out there.

We have a winner. Joe_the_dragon is hereby entitled to stop derailing this thread into his silly "I want something Apple doesn't offer; therefore, Apple is in the wrong" diatribe which he can redirect to the even funnier "We never got what the Mac is about, but we sure enjoy posting about our wet dreams" thread.
Now, I believe Steve Jobs made a "see you in a few weeks" remark of sorts, and the quarterly report mentioned "watch for an update on iLife", if I'm not mistaken. It's reasonable to guess that we'll have an iLife and iWork update by the end of March. Further, in April, we should have some Pro App updates at NAB, and finally, the Santa Rosa platform will be coming around, which means updates, eventually, for the Mac mini, MacBook, iMac and MacBook Pro.
