Download wasn't working earlier, but it is now.

Server is supposedly a bit sporadic, so I'm downloading it with Interarchy and the promise of easy resuming.

    I just tried it.

If I had to sum it up in one word, I'd say: Lame.

I didn't like it. The graphics are sub-par and definitely look several years old. The sound isn't so great either. The car handling is so-so. There also doesn't seem to be any way to change screen resolution or any other advanced kind of options.

    Eh. <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" />

You must not have looked around much. The graphics are beyond shit, but the cars are fully customizable as is the video. I managed to change the res to 640x480 and mess with about 30 other video/graphics options before proceeding to mess with the car (angle tilts of the wings, all manner of things I do not understand.)

It's too bad the graphics suck...and my video card is apparently unsupported though it could easily handle it.

It's like playing a blast from the past.

We're talking graphics on par with arcade games 5-6 years ago.

Too bad, those teaser screenshots they released looked WAY better.

I can't believe that this was a 2000 release originally... the graphics look ANCIENT.

Huge let down for what could have been the first "real" racing game on the Mac in a long time.

Yeah, it's pretty sad, the graphics at their highest setting are worse than Driver's graphics at their lowest setting, and Driver is old.

    Had such potential...ah well.

All of those car settings...

What's wrong with the graphics? They look fine to me. The tracks are detailed, the cars are pretty well done, the environmental effects are good. Are the textures not right? I just don't see how anyone could call the graphics "beyond shit" when they look like everything else being done these days. I don't own Driver, but the screen shots from reviews look far worse than the graphics in F1.

Ok, I just learned that the demo uses software rendering only, which would explain the crappola graphics.

Look at the screenshots on MacGamer + IMG for a better representation of the graphics.

    decent. Nothing great, but decent.

    Sounds still suck though.

Admittedly it looks better...but that wasn't the smartest move.

Giving a demo worse graphics capability than the actual game sure isn't going to help sell this thing.

Well, here's a small screen shot of the demo on my machine. Maybe there's something wrong, but it sure seems to be using hardware acceleration.

What kind of graphics cards are you all using?
