I select "Log out..." from the Apple menu and it doesn't logout (same goes for Shutdown and Restart).

What happened? It doesn't always happen, but has a few times now. I am running 10.4.8.

Anybody seen something similar?

Press ctrl+Apple key+Eject, that should restart your Mac.

No fix to this problem? I just held the power button until it went off.

    G'day

    I'm getting a similar problem.

Mine's caused by quitting Acquisition while the main window is in the Dock. It freezes with no error message, but stops shutdown, logout & restart.

Don't do that regularly. When applications won't quit, they stop the logout process so you need to see what programs are running and try and close them down.

Using Activity Viewer, I confirmed the only application running at the time was Finder.

Maybe another background process was stuck, but I couldn't identify which one.
