Does anyone have any info on when the ETA is? I heard before it was coming, but now that the PC version is out is there a better idea of when it will come?

Also, any info on Dues Ex 2 would be nice. But it seems that the official website has not been updated in quite a while. BTW, is DX2 going to use the Unreal2/UT2003 engine?

I heard on these boards that there were no plans to port it to the Mac OS

its almost reason enough to buy a PC!!

allthough my wife, who emphatically HATES that I play a video game and thinks its deadly and addictive, would never go with that purchase . . . .

The UT2003 port is already in progress, from what I read on IMG a while back. We may not get the toolset (no surprise), but I do believe the game is already on its way...

The goal was to have the OS X only port finished for X-mas, I don't know if they will hit that mark though. Would be a nice X-mas present.

i believe that epic (or who ever is developing it) is handling the port it in house.

Ok. Firstly, if you're into mac gaming read <a href="http://www.insidemacgames.com"; target="_blank">Inside Mac Games</a>.

<a href="http://www.insidemacgames.com/news/story.php?ArticleID=6314"; target="_blank">This</a> item sets the date at sometime before the end of the year, which is inline with what the general understanding seems to be. The port of UT2003 is being handled inhouse by Epic and the publishing will be done by Inforgrames according to <a href="http://www.insidemacgames.com/news/story.php?ArticleID=6265"; target="_blank">this</a>.

The Mac port of Halo is being handled by Glenda Adams and team over at <a href="http://www.insidemacgames.com/news/story.php?ArticleID=6641"; target="_blank">Westlake</a>, the aim is for PC/Mac compatibility. Seeng as Halo on the xBox doesn't support online play, and Halo 2 is on the horizon I somehow doubt we're going to get Mac/PC/xBox multiplayer compatibility. Word around the block is that it will be ready when they decide it's ready. An no sooner. I for one, am glad to hear it. We've waited so long another few months for a solid port will be well worth it.

Mac gaming is really making a comeback. I try not to let my self get caught up in it to much but it makes me happy to see the slew of new games coming to the mac. Even if they are late we never used to get games like medal of honor and things like that.

All I can say is.. UT2003 better bloody well be well optimised for Dual Processors... Otherwise no mac would be able to run it at max... (Presuming that Dual G4s could of course)

Well this is very encouraging . . . allthough I dare not tell my wife a word of this

I forsee a future where I am pale and paunchy with headphones snug around my cranium while my newborn daughter whines untended in the corner . . .

I agree, we just need to keep buying games, to support these porters. I am hoping the trend moves towards the Warcraft 3 scenario where both the Mac and PC games were released at the same time( on the same disk no less) rather than the more typical scenario of the Mac game coming out almost a year later.

I recently played "Unreal Tournament Game of the Year Edition", and liked it so much I am hoping to buy it for Mac OS X. With word of UT2003 coming out, I might as well buy that instead!

Go ahead and buy UT:GotY. There's a beta OS X port availalable, but it's one of those things the porting company (Westlake) can only do "in their spare time." They're not being paid for an OS X version.

Then you can while away the hours in UT until UT2003 comes out.

I really like UT....UT2k3 looks sick as hell. I'm gald that there is a definate port happening. Is the Goty version of UT really that much different than regular UT? I never read anything about it.

Halo 2 will be released on xbox first but the mac/pc versions will follow shortly afterwords(at least this is what {microsoft}bungie{/microsoft} claimed ...I'm still dissapointed with bungie and now Rareware as well)

I can't wait to see Halo reach desktops....I still haven't played it, which is totally bogus since I was so very amped about it back in the day before anyone had heard of xbox.

Mac gaming has definatly made a comeback, there are so many good games either on mac now or coming to mac shortly. Half life 2 and the next counterstrike are both coming to mac, and it can only get better.

In fact in the past few months(and trruly over the past year) macs in general have been making a comeback, every day it seems I'm reading new articles about "why to switch" or "its good to switch" or "you can have a choice" all that stuff, I feel that once apple gets the ppc 970 ,and if the ppc is half what its been made up to be, then Apple will have some made desktop/server power that should more than compete with the intel and amd offerings...once that happens then Apple could definatly see a resurgence in interest. At least thats how it seems to be I could be wrong, but it would be nice if Im not, cause more interest means more acceptance means more support means more fun!

It's essentially just UT plus some extra official maps, and some unofficial mods. Some of the mods are incredibly fun. Unfortunately, my disc is in storage, so I can't quote the names for you...

But the best one has an alternate Flak Cannon which fires... well, these little round balls with smiley faces. The fun part is that they will hop around the map, chasing whoever's closest while saying little phrases, like "Why are you running away? I only want to be your friend!" Of course, when they hit you, they blow up.

    {Edit} Found it! It's called <a href="http://dynamic4.gamespy.com/~chaotic/index.php"; target="_blank">Chaos UT</a>. Oh, and they're making a version for UT2003 as well.
