Cigars
Hi all,
In the last 6-8 months I've gotten more interested in smoking cigars. I love them. Had two last night actually. I was wondering if you have any favorite brands, what your price range is, how many you consume, etc. For me, there is no better high than a nice cigar.
My brand is kind of tough to find right now, but it seems to be coming back into stock at my local store. I'm smoking CAO MX2s. They're about $5.50 a pop and come with a maduro wrapper. I believe they're 7 inches with a 54(?) ring. Good shit. Nothing like going out on the patio (if it's over 40 degrees!) with a cigar and drink. I've also smoked some Camachos in various varieties. I find they are more bitter, produce too much smoke, and have a loose draw.
Next step for me is a small humidor. Maybe someday I'll get a smoke removal/filtrations system so I can smoke inside!

I'm not too choosy, but in Florida it's pretty easy to come upon Cubans, which all seem to be very smooth. I recall having Cohibas and Partugas (or something like that) which are the choice models of the guy I know who smokes a lot of cigars. Otherwise I don't really recall any models. I just smoke what I'm given!

A small humidor is a great idea: you can then buy in bulk and save a few bucks over buying one at a time.
www.jrcigars.com usually has some good deals and their JR Alternatives are typically good every day smokes.

(edit) Apparently this is being taken seriously. Apologies.

Thompson cigar company has good selection of handmade cigars. Also a good place to buy humidors and other accessories. They are pretty reasonably priced, compared to some of the local tobacco shops.
I prefer Swisher Sweets

Swishers....brings back the college days.
Twenty-five years ago I smoked Montecristo Churchills for special occasions. A great smoke for your portfolio. I haven't smoked since '88 but I think I'd break the fast for one of these:

Hmm. Can you tell me about their flavor, draw, etc?

Yeah I've seen their site. Never ordered anything, but I may.
Smoking cigars is proof that SDW2001 is a terrorist.

Not by me. No worries.

Seriously? By whom?

Yeah really...I don't know of anyone.
There's a cigar industry in China of course... They are a *nice* *friendly* *communist* country that the US has the most unbelievably cozy relations with! Almost everything else in the stores seems to be made there.. maybe a great influx of Chinese cigars is nigh....
So.. Cigar smokers... instead of Montecristos and Partagas look out for Red Capitals and Yinian Century! Former Chairman Mao Tse Tung loved them!.. ..
......coming soon to a specialist tobacco store, (or MallWart) near you!
J/K.. or maybe not?
Do they make still cigars in Cuba? But because of the embargo against that island nation, we're prohibited from importing them?

Chinese cigars????? Hmm. I'm still waiting to try on of their $10 musical instruments (OK, $50 or so with shipping) from ebay!!!
I've never had a Cuban in all seriousness. I would love to try one. Right now I love my CAOs. I believe they are based, or were...in Nashville. The Mx2s have tobacco from 6 different countries, and a double madura wrapper. I get excited just thinking about it!
Guess we don't have a whole lot of smokers here on the boards, eh?
