Software to create a lockable/copy protected CD?

Hmmm, this may be a bit of a longshot but here I go...



I need to come up with a solution of how to create a data CD (which will be copied and sold to people) that is somehow lockable/copy-protected.



Basically the people I am doing this for are selling the CD for quite a lot of money, and don't want one person in a company buying it and then making duplicates etc.



They don't really know what they want, so anyone got any ideas??

    There's really no way to make a CD absolutely copy-proof without making it useless at the same time. I know of a few tricks some companies have used to make it difficult to copy discs directly, but you can always just pull the files off and burn another, or make a disc image and burn from that.

    long shot i know! what i was thinking of last night was, is there someway to password protect the CD? sure it won't stop people copying it, or giving away the password, but would provide at least something (especially in the eyes of my client!)

    good idea, the only problem is that the CD has to be cross-platform



    its the sort of thing i was hoping could be achieved using software when i burn the CD -- if only Toast let you do this!
