I have some DDR memory from a PC I have just retired and I hope I can re-use the memory in my MAC G5 tower. The mac is a dual 2ghz with 8 memory slots. Here are the specs of the Mushkin enhanced memory:

990991 (256MB) HP3200

991139 (2x256MB)

Frequency: \t400MHz \tLatency: \t2-3-3 \tParity: \tUnbuffered

\t\tVoltage: \t2.6V - 2.8V \tPins: \t184

Density \t> > > \tModule: \t32Mx64 \tChip: \t32Mx8

This 32X64 HP3200 module is an unbuffered 184-Pin Double Data Rate (DDR) Synchronous DRAM Dual In-Line Memory Module (DIMM), organized as a single-bank high-speed memory array. 32Mx8 chip density. This DIMM achieves high-speed data transfer rates of up to 400MHz. Rated 2-3-3 at 400MHz.

Can I safely use this memory? It seems OK, but I'd like to be sure.

    Welcome to the AI boards!

What model 2.0 GHz G5 is it exactly? There were at least three different G5s at that speed... See Apple Menu --> About this Mac --> More Info --> and please post the info of "Machine Name" and "Machine Model" in here.

In general, the RAM you have (DDR PC-3200) should work in all the G5 models manufactured prior to October 2005.

OK, thanks for looking things up. Your G5 seems to be from the first series of G5s. So yes, the RAM should be OK.
