Is scanning via Airport Extreme possible?

We just got a new Airport Extreme and, with my girlfriend's MacBook, a Canon MP460 all-in-one. The printing function works flawlessly, but I haven't had any luck getting the scanner to work. When I'm trying to set up the Canon as a device in Image Capture, I get a message saying "Cannot communicate with scanner. Cable may be disconnected or scanner may be turned off." Neither of these conditions are true. If I try to scan using the Canon's controls, it just sits there doing nothing when I hit the button to actually initiate the scan.



Is this just something that isn't possible? I mean, I suppose I could temporarily connect the printer directly to my machine, but it's an inconvenience I would rather avoid if possible.

    No sadly it isn't possible. I was really hoping for it in the new Extreme as well.

    That makes me glad I dumped my all-in-one inkjet for a color laser printer and stand-alone scanner.
