AppleTV ethernet out?

Sorry if this has been covered (I couldn't find it). Does anybody know if the ethernet port on the back of the AppleTV sends a signal out? I'm wondering if you could plug in one of the high end receivers (e.g. Denon 4306) that accepts an ethernet connection to stream internet radio stations. I don't have a wired connection anywhere near my home theater and would be interested in setting this up wirelessly with AppleTV as the bridge.
