i bought my MacBook black Core Duo september 2006, can I burn DVD+R DL double layer DVDs?

i bought my MacBook black september 2006, can I burn DVD+R DL double layer DVDs?
If it did burn DL discs, it should show something like this:
DVD-Write: -R, -RAM, -RW, +R, +RW, +R DL
That's what my LG multi-drive shows. The Apple site says it supports DL discs though so it must do. Perhaps it's just reporting it wrong.
I guess it reads DL discs but NOT writes them. I need to check it out.
(First generation being Core Duo)
