Intranet Phone via current LAN? Possible?

I was thinking of setting up two old iMac G3s that I have at my parent's shop to serve as a possible intercom system (via iChat and Bonjour) so that people in back can communicate to people in front.

However, is there a cheaper way to do this via perhaps a phone system running in our existing LAN?

The ethernet wiring is there w/spare ports... But i was thinking perhaps a phone system where they'd pick up in the back and it'd automatically ring in the front? No outside calls are necessary?

Just wondering if anyony knew...

There are many, cheap IP phone systems available.

    Walkie talkies work OK too.
