Can't delete files as others are locked

Greetings,

I hope someone can help me with this.

I replaced the HD in my iBook G4 succesfully and put the orig. drive in an FW external enclosure. When I went to delete the now duplicate files/programs/OS, an error message said 2 Read Me files and the WMP app couldn't be emptied from the trash because other files(a lot of files in the case of WMP) are locked.

Any ideas?

Thanks

S

    Unlock them?

Select the files, go to the File -> Get Info menu item. Open the General section of the resulting window, and you'll see a checkbox for 'Locked'. Uncheck it.

Thanks, K, but I'd already tried that.

I was actually able to delete them using the Erase function of Disc Utility.

    Go Yankees!
