Keyboard won't light up in the dark

Hi, I've done all the usual tricks in the system preferences to change the keyboard illumination.



Is there something wrong with my keyboard's light sensor?



I have even reinstalled all the software again, and it still does not light up in the pitch dark.

I also have taken out the battery and held down the power button.



(I have seen my keyboard light up before).



How can I fix this? Is it a hardware problem (I think the light sensor is semi-broken)

    Am I missing something? When did Apple keyboards light up in the dark?

    Sorry, I meant the macbook pro's keyboard

    It was a hardware issue. Applecare took it back and fixed it.
