I am using the older Airport Extreme to wirelessly connect my computers and stream music via Airport Express to my stereo.

..at times I lose my signal --either due to interference, or whatever.

Would I get better signal strength with the new 802.11 N Airport? I will be using it a a G router since I don't have N cards on my other devices. Does it have a better antennae system that would make a differeence?

I couldn't imagine a difference, best thing first is to make sure the firmware is up to date on the Extreme. Try relocating the Airport, avoid metal surfaces and walls which use reinforced concrete (iron). Try placing the Airport express higher up from the floor.

If that doesn't work you could use a Homeplug Network and connect in the Airport Express.

Also you could change the channel try 7 or 11 , a lot of people use channel 1. Could be your neighbor's wifi.

    Gav :-)

When they talk about increased range & speed they are referring to all products being 802.11n. As soon as you make it 802.11g compatible you will get the same distance and speed on the g products as you do now.
