sound recording software

ok, i have a new powerbook and I was wondering if there were any good sound recording programs out there for the mac. "Sound Forge" is great for windows and i was wondering if there were any programs like that for macs. also, i have a mic but i dont know if it can plug in the powerbook, so i would i physically record sound?

    Can you be more specific-are you just trying to record mono or stereo audio, or going for a DAW? There are many possibilities based on your budget, etc.

    For simple edits, tweaking, and such, check out Peak from BIAS software. That would be a similar product to soundforge.

    if you have a new PB there is a sound in port for a mic in-between the modem and s-video ports.



    you can stick a mic in there... (not sure if it is a standard port or not)
