What should I Do?

So after hearing that Apple will delay the release of the revolutionary new OS codenamed: Leopard till October has left me with a hard decision on my hands. I am converting from PC and have been interested in the MacBook Pro for months. I had my hopes up to get it by this Spring but now have to wait until October. Now I'm concerned if I buy a new Mac now, Apple may release new hardware along with Leopard. I want to know I'm waiting for something better than the Apples on the market today because Leopard will be such a great OS. Tell me which would probably be my best bet...

1) Purchase computer today and not even care about the new OS or possibly new hardware and upgrade to leopard later

2) By the computer in October when the OS is preloaded on all Mac's computer and possibly have the new hardware.

3) Wait until the WWDC in June and see if anything will come out in the fall with the OS, then make the decision to buy it or not

Basically whats on the table is patience. I'm willing to wait but I don't want to but a computer today and see 6 months from now new hardware or maybe even a redesigned MacBook Pro! Help me out people! What should I do?

I think that's your answer right there. I would be stunned if apple doesn't update the MacBookPro in the next 6 months. You may be interested in this useful site: http://www.macrumors.com/buyersguide/#MacBook_Pro

If you do wait for the next revision of the MacBookPro, my guess is it will come out before Leopard, which leads to "trade-off" problem.

If you buy it then, you will have to pay to upgrade to Leopard. Maybe as a switcher it would be best to learn from 10.5 and not 10.4 - I don't really know).

If you decide to wait for 10.5 before buying the Macbook pro, then I would guess that since you would likely be buying the MacBookPro a while after it's "new" revision, you would be once again running up against the high possiblitiy of a revision again shortly (3-6months) after you buy the "new" MacBookPro.

Personally, I'm leaning toward prescribing waiting for 10.5 and then buying, newer model on the horizon be damned.

Personally I would buy now if you need it now. If you can wait then wait for the next revision which should be out before WWDC, though it is possible that they will wait till WWDC to release it. If you can and would prefer to wait till October then do that.

If Santa Rosa is coming out May 9, a new iMac using it could be out a week later. A new SR-based MBP could be introduced at WWDC on June 11.

BTW from the time that the Core 2 Duo was made available for portables and the time a new iMac came out using it was 1 week. The C2D MBP came out 6 weeks later, for some reason. Probably a marketing decision.
