Macs get angry if you wake them up right before their about to fall asleep....
I started up my computer and left it for a bit. I came back and started to login simultaneously as it was falling asleep (but the screen was still displaying). The screen then flickered once, popped back up - except the mouse and everything was frozen, and then went to sleep after about 20 seconds or so. I wake it up, and the screen is all mutilated. I was able to type in my password and hit enter despite the mutilated screen, and upon login, I got this picture (a similarly mutilated picture of my desktop):
My dock is usually at the bottom, and the jumbled portion of the screen was the portion that I could move my mouse in or display anything in.
Luckily, I was able to guess and put my computer to sleep despite only being able to see a few lines of the menu, and upon re-wake, the computer was fine -- mac was happy.
Lesson learned: macs get angry if you wake them up right before their about to fall asleep....
