Power Consumption

I measured the power consumption on my wintel box and my mac-mini. My mac uses 18 watts and my wintel box uses 147 watts. I leave my computers on all year so my wintel box uses 1288 KWH (Kilowatts hours) and may mac used 158 KWH. My electricity is pretty cheap, as I pay 9 cents a KWH. So my wintel box cost me $116 dollars for power and my mac-mini cost me $14.20 a year. A whopping $102 dollars a year in savings. I think it is interesting that if you buy a mac-mini use it for three years you save half the cost of the unit in electricity.

Cool. And yet you have all these people denigrating it because it doesn't use a so-called "desktop" hard drive and "desktop" optical drive and "desktop" RAM.
