Re-Enlisted in the Mac Army...

I owned a G4 back in 2000 (I think that was the year). I still have it but sacrificed the RAM for an Intel machine. Now that Macs are Intels I don't feel so dirty.

I now have a MBP that's a few months old.

Since I re-enlisted, after at least five years out, I need new orientation.

1. Magazines... MacAddict is now Mac|Life? And MacWorld is still around. Anything else I should know about? I saw a few Brittish mags on the shelf at Borders. Still including discs and selling for $17 American. Don't they know we have the %^$# internet over here and can DOWNLOAD a lot better crap than they have burned to a $15 (retail value) disc?! Sheesh!

2. Forums... I frequent this one, MacNN and MacOSXHints. Any other Mac forums or sites you would recommend? (...of course, I do revisit Apple.com just to see how much machine I could have bought if I bought today versus when I did... sigh...)

3. My G4... Is it good for anything nowadays? I mean, it actually came with an Iomega 250 drive and a DVD-ROM (who's discs were $45 EACH!!! at the time... talk about freaking over coasters!). Can it run Jag or something? I have a OS9 disc and an OSX folder containing an upgrade... so it can at least run the basic carbon (?) OSX. Any thoughts?

I think that's it for now. Thanks (in advance) for the info!
