hi all,

I'm thinking about purchasing a 2nd hand ipod from a friend of a friend of mine. lol

the problem is.. he doesn't have the original receipt.

I wanna ask if it's neccessary to have the receipt when claiming warranty?

The ipod is only 2 months old and according to the website, the serial number says it's still got another 250 days.

thank you.

Rick.

No need for a receipt - with any Apple product, just walk into an Apple Store and they'll run the serial off it to verify that it's still covered.

I bought a PC from Best Buy about 5 years ago and I remember what a mess it was to take the thing in for service (which I did quite frequently). I had to dig through a pile of papers to find the proper extended service contract before they'd even look at it.

Things are getting moe and more streamlined now... I don't know how Best Buy handles it, but Apple pretty much goes by the serial # on the product - that's all they need.
