must say i'm digging this new browser. Mac surfing is finally on par with PC's. Thank you Apple! this was a serious problem with the speed perception. great show, and great hardware!

    Spooge.

It does need more options in the prefs and hopefully an ad blocker. Of course Moz/Chim users will demand a tab view.

Otherwise this thing is really taking names and kicking some ars!

I'm waiting for tabs too. I first tried Chimera at 0.6 and I haven't used another browser since. I know some people want MORE prefs stuff...but I kinda like the simplicity. I'll give Safari a whirl when it gets out of beta . The ONLY Chimera complaint I still have is that it has some mysterious bug where it periodically grabs 100% CPU and slows to a crawl. Fix that!!!

I like it. Yes, I'm a chimera user and I NEED TABS! I dont really mind Safari's lack of preferences. On my 56k modem I do notice a page load difference, pretty fast. Now on how to import my chimera bookmarks,

Window != All Ads. It needs a banner ad blocker.

Are you sure it's not this site? Other sites seem fast to me, but AI seems slow at times (I'd blame the server, personally). Everything but this site and MacNN is fast, fast, fast.

Everyone I've talked to that has tried Safari has said that it is way faster than any of the other Mac browsers on OSX (G3, G4, old, and new). This post really does leaveme confused. <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

sweet, this thing has spelling too?!? man, i'm more impressed every minute i use this. zippy, clean (although i'm not a fan of brushed metal, i can live with it)

the funny part is, odds are this will just make Chimera a better browser. i'll probably end up using these two for quite some time to come now. both rock.

Yes, its Slow, slow, slow!!! Oh, wait a minute, thats my 56k.

Fer real...Safari is great (even on my 56). At work it was screaming through sites so fast that I thought I hit the back button and was loading a cached file.

    Go Apple!

i've noticed something too...you know how you're in IE and a page is loading....then it blinks out...and redraws...and blinks out...and redraws.

i have yet to see this with safari. gimme some privacy controls and autofill and i'm totally there!

    way to go apple!

Way faster than IE or Omniweb on my dial-up. And I'm never impressed with anything 'net related!

Try resizing a page, like an AI thread, in Safari and then resizing the same page in IE.

I never really understood the value of tabs, though I have a really big monitor. I just view multiple pages at once and alternate page loads. I mean, why would I want to hide the previous page behind another if I still plan on going back to it? ...
