Hey all. I was just wondering if anyone would be interested in doing an AppleInsider Nike+ challenge. We could do something like most miles ran in June or fastest mile. Whatever people are open to. Either post your ID here with your suggestion, or PM me.

I think this could be a fun way to get to know other mac users. Also, don't think I'm some hotshot runner, cause I am anything but.

Is this an official thing? I'm kind of in limbo right now, or otherwise I'd be down for any of these things. Once I get settled, I'll start running again.

I am actually a casual runner (formerly competitive), and I try to run about 20 miles a week. Any more, and my knees go to hell. I have tried almost every brand, and now I buy only Nike trainers. I currently use the Air Zoom Miller. They wear out pretty quickly, but if you can foot the bill, they are well worth it. They are not only one of the lightest and airiest shoes I've ever had, but also the most comfortable and cushy. They are great trainers.

Anyway, anything we do should encourage improvement. We can sort out an algebraic expression to award points to the achievers. Maybe something to the tune of 5k speed improvement. I'm drinking beers now and am not in the mood to think this through, but I promise I will tomorrow. Going from a 30 minute 5k to a 24 minute 5k is probably about as hard as going from 17mins to 16 mins, and we'll have to account for that.

Wow, you've already put more thought into this than I have. No, this is not an official thing, I just thought it'd be something casual to get to know some fellow mac users.

Right now I'm running about 20mi/w as well, but am going to start training for my first marathon here in a few weeks. I've never really been a competitive runner, and though I did do XC in high school I was never particularly fast (21:00 5k pr - which seems really awesome to me right now ). I just thought it'd be something fun to get started around here.
