although it looks like the Norwegian who wrote the DVD cracking tool "DeCSS" won his court case and will go free, copyright violation of the DVD wasn't the issue (he reverse-engineered a player for linux which happened to obviate the copy-protection in the process, but the judge said he had the right to watch the dvd he'd legally bought, yadda yadda)
with a little creative use of Google or versiontracker.com with keywords that might include variations on: "DVD DeCSS extractor Mac OS X ffMPEG vlc"...
