I have the MacBook Pro 2.16, with a 120 gig HD, problem is it only shows 111.35 gigs, any ideas as to why?

    For all HD manufacturers 1GB = 1,000,000,000 Byte (10^9)

    For everyone else 1GB = 1,073,741,824 Byte (2^30)

The HD manufacturers are using GB correctly everyone else not

Yes, you loose some space when formatting.

    I lost 0.2GB from 372.6GB

Indeed to convert between binary (used to store data) and decimal used for sales purposes:

    (120 x 1000^3) / (1024^3) = 111.76GB

The remaining difference is lost to formatting.
