After reading this <a href="http://www.imgmagazine.com/news/story.php?ArticleID=6849"; target="_blank">article</a> at Inside Mac Games that stated that UT 2003 would not have SMP support, I was wondering if anybody had gotten a chance to play it at Macworld and what the performance was like. Any comments?

Played? no. But I saw it on a GeForce and a ATI card. Both were pretty smooth, the G-Force seemed to be a little slower overall, (unknown FPS) The radion card had around 50-60 FPS, but bogged down to 25 in large open areas with lots of players/gunfire.

hey there, was at MWSF all 4 days and logged in a couple rounds of UT2K3. i asked an Apple Staff guy which card was playing on the NVidia configured (MDD) machines, and he wasn't too sure if it was the 32MB MX (as opposed to the QS2k2 64MB MX card) or the GF4Ti -- but was leaning more towards the MX. i can't recall what the proc or RAM setup was tho. *DOH*

however, the games were always set with all details HIGHEST with all pretty stuff turned on at 1600x1024 (on a 22" Cinema Display) and except for the low-grav tree level and the lava level included in the demo/beta, it looked really GREAT averaging at 30 FPS, going up to 60 FPS and nothing below 15 FPS. i would surely play at 1024x768 with all the pretty stuff turned on at the highest setting, and i'm sure the game would play just fine on a Dual 1.25GHz and a Radeon 9700 Pro (which ATI had at the show) or GF4Ti.

for comparison, i've played UT2K3 on a PC (AMD 1.4Ghz with 64MB GF3 @ 1024x768 with normal settings) and the mac's performance at 1600x1024 seemed to "scale" a lot better. but that's just my visually-based opinion. hope that helps.

UT 2003 will be a full commercial product on CD. They have stated that they will also have a downloadable demo available.
