No. If you come to WWDC we're rolling out our new version of OSX -- massive investments in desktops. You'll love it.

A quote from the Jobs interview this evening. If it is recorded correctly (I've only read the notes, not seen any video), it says DESKTOPS, not COMPUTERS.

Adds a little more fuel to the new iMac/Mac Pro/other desktop mac fire?

Fingers crossed.

It could also be read as a massive investment in the OSX desktop, as in user interface.

In the context of how I read it, it meant hardware.

But it could also be a Freudian slip...

Most rumors seem to agree that new iMacs should see the light of day at WWDC. Those qualify as 'desktops', no?

So perhaps those 'massive investments' are iMac related?

We’re also always improving our OS, generally have a release 18 months or so. And we had a big release we didn’t get much credit for, which is Mac OS X Tiger for Intel,” he said.

I'm looking at that and all I can think is notebooks.

Here is a steve jobs quote on what your talking about.

"Massive investments in that business" I think it's obvious he was just referring to the "computer" business.

If you don't want to be disappointed, you're better off ignoring what he says. We'll know what's coming when WWDC gets here, let's not make it feel even longer away shall we, a wathced kettle never boils.

I really believe this will be coming alongside a MBP refresh. The iMac is far overdue, and the rumor pot for the ones indicates it had been worked on for quite a while now. A nod to 'massive desktop investments' does imply this, though it could be for the Mac Pro, though I don't think there's a hole lot more "massive" you could do to that thing. On top of that, I got an email from Apple today, and the first thing was a plug for the iMac. I can't remember, but it may have had a slight price reduction, too. Sounds to me like they're trying to reduce their stock on the current iMacs before they announce the new ones, presumably at WWDC.

Still, it could imply a final push to unload some before the new ones... I guess we'll have to wait and see in 10 days

No.. it's just their Gear Guide newsletter, the one before that they put an iPod on top, and the one before that they put an Airport Extreme and Macbook on top and before that an iPod HiFi... even if they do release new iMacs at WWDC (very likely) this is just them promoting their products and 3rd party accessories through Gear Guide.
