I have a MBP C2D that was wireless-n out of the box (I checked the controll pannel and it indicated that the card was -n capable without downloading the $1.99 fix). However, sometimes it will just loose the Airport Extreme basestation mid-download, and then not even "see" it to let you log on again.

Do I need to go back to g/n at 2.4 Ghz to get a consistant connection?

I think SDW had a problem with the AE base-station and got a different one. Hopefully he'll chime in.

I found the problem: I'm an idiot. I was answering the phone, and when I looked down to grab it out of the cradle the "5.8 Ghz" sticker was there and plainly visisble. In a flash, I remebered a trip to best buy 2 years ago to get a phone that wasn't 2.4 Ghz when we got out last wireless router.

Gotcha. My problem was more with my Airport Express. I still don't know what the deal was. It was sitting next to my phone though, and there is a lot of interference in my community. My new Extreme seems to have solved the vast majority of problems.
