That's for sure. Fees just kills *us* here in Brazil

We have 100%+ fees over imported electronics.

In Apple's (Brazil) official pricelist it is even more expensive: (3000usd)

    http://latam.apple.com/pricelist/br/ (2r$ = 1usd$)

Since they were out of stock, I will only receive it next week, so that if Apple releases new Displays monday, I will immediately cancel my order, and wait for those.

Fuck yeah, almost makes having a stupid poll seem worth it.

All I want is a video Ipod. Proper video Ipod, not the music jobby that does matchbox sized video as well. Something PSP Sized. Jobs is being his usual asshole self by holding them back, as they have been sitting there ready to go.

We've been waiting over a year now.

And you will most likely be waiting another year. Apple and Cingular have a lot of money invested in the iPhone. As has been vigorously discussed on this forum already, Apple has to make sure that the iPhone is successful. If Apple sells their first few million iPhones within a few months, you MIGHT see true video iPods by MacWorld (perhaps holidays). If they don't reach a few million by the first of the year, look for next summer/fall for the holiday shopping season.

P.S. - Not to cause offense, but please watch your language, there are children or the otherwise sensitive that roam these forums. Thanks.

Nah, they have a few other things to consider too - the current one is getting very long in the tooth now and the competition isn't exactly standing still. It will probably be something akin to the days of the first Imac - they flogged the shit out of it for a lot longer than they should have, but the replacement was quite a step up.

You make a good point with the iMac example and the need to stay competitive in the music player market. Remember, thought, Steve Jobs interview at the D5 Conference a couple of weeks ago. He was asked specifically about the iPod and the fact that it had been ten months since it was updated. He kind of acted surprised that Walt Mossberg thought that 10 months was a "long time" between updates. Even if 10 months is not a long time between updates, I'll definitely concede that it has been a LONG time since a significant feature (video) was added to the iPod, so I can see it happening soon but I still don't think it will come before MacWorld

    Oops, off topic!

no i wouldn't think so. Maybe in the fall if/when they upgrade the pro, then they might make bigger sizes too.

I think Apple is going to wait until larger (20"+) LED displays are available in large scale to upgrade its line of displays.

It seems so, following Steve's letter about Apple's environment policy.

Larger LEDs are available. Just look at Samsung's new offering. I think they will announce them tomorrow.
