Multiple monitor OS X 10.4.9 - max resolution possible?

Hi all,

I was wondering if it is possible to set both displays (iMac+external VGA) to their maximum resolution. What I get is: if I change one's resolution, it affects the other display's resolution.

This is soooo annoying!

If this is something to do with Tiger, will Leopard fix this?

Thanks!!!

This is only dependant on how much VRAM your computer have... What machinetype are you using?

It is possible but mirrored mode is strange. I had someone hook up a Macbook to an external and it wouldn't go above 1280x800 even though the external went higher. Extended mode worked fine though.
