Airport Extreme and HDs on a hub PROBLEM

Hi

Just got myself an Airport Extreme, one of the new square n ones with the USB on the back, the USB is the only reason i got it, i want to have a central printer in the house AND most importantly hook up my 4 400GB external drives via a hub and still be able to add drives as and when.

The PROBLEM is that I can only seem to hook up 2 of the drives at any one time drive 1 and 2 or drive 3and 4 (or any variation of that) its a BELKIN 7 way POWERED hub and I have changed around all leads and connectors, the HUB worked fine hooked up to my Mac so I dont think the problem is there.

I hook up the AE and drives, add power and the AE cycles on 2 of the drives will pop up on screen but then the AE seems to panic and goes into a shut down (Airport Utility reports it as not being SEEN by the Mac) then the AE restarts and the whole process keeps cycling round like that until I remove 2 of the drives ANY two (I did initially think I had a problem with drive 3 but I dont).

Also I can have 2 drives running and recognised and files being accessed and plug in a 64Meg USB ram stick and THAT will show up, and not crash the whole thing, BUT if I try this with my iPod as a third drive i only get the iPod!??

Wierd and SOOOOOOOOOOO annoying, I can understand things that just DONT work, or I can trouble shoot and then they improve (or even get worse) but there seems to be no reason for this that I can see.

So, any help or light you can shine on this would be great.

TIA

{I updated the firmware to 7.1.1 and I have checked on the Apple forums where I see a lot of people with issues of not getting ANY drive to be recognised, but not MY specific set of problems as is typical haha}
