Hello,

is it possible to syncronize the iPhone on a machine with USB 1.1 (iMac G4 for example) and Mac OS X 10.4.10?

Or works the iPhone only with USB 2.0?

Can anybody test this please?

Thank you!

Hmmmm. Apple's iPhone User Guide states the following:

    Quote:

    To use iPhone, you need:
    • A new two-year wireless service plan with AT&T

    • A Mac or a PC with a USB 2.0 port and one of the following operating systems:

    • Mac OS X version10.4.10 or later

    • Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 2 or later

    • Windows Vista Home Premium, Business, Enterprise, or Ultimate edition

    • iTunes 7.3 or later, available at www.itunes.com

    • An iTunes Store account

    • An Internet connection

I guess they say USB 2.0 because USB 1 will be painfully slow.

I've been unable to get Itunes to recognize my iPhone on my iMac G4. The only remaining suggestion from the apple docs site is that I don't have USB 2.0 on my iMac. iPhoto works fine and I can get the photos from my iPhone.

I was able to activate it from a WinXP machine that also had USB 1.1. My biggest frustration is that all my music is on my iMac.

Just got it working with a Powerbook G4 Titanium 867MHz. It didn't recognize the phone when I had Software Update download and install Mac OS X 10.4.10 and iTunes 7.3.1.

I had to manually download and reinstall iTunes 7.3.1, and after that it worked perfectly.
