I've been unable to get Itunes to recognize my iPhone on my iMac G4. The only remaining suggestion from the apple docs site is that I don't have USB 2.0 on my iMac. iPhoto works fine and I can get the photos from my iPhone.
I was able to activate it from a WinXP machine that also had USB 1.1. My biggest frustration is that all my music is on my iMac.
Just got it working with a Powerbook G4 Titanium 867MHz. It didn't recognize the phone when I had Software Update download and install Mac OS X 10.4.10 and iTunes 7.3.1.
I had to manually download and reinstall iTunes 7.3.1, and after that it worked perfectly.

To use iPhone, you need:
I guess they say USB 2.0 because USB 1 will be painfully slow.

Of course it will be slow like hell... but it works....thats the point.
