Imac G3 new hardrive

I recently put a new hardrive in my imac g3 dv 400mhz 768mb of ram, Now It is quiet when i start it up and I rarely hear the hardive anymore it is quiet, is this normal after putting a new hardrive in it? It runs great but could the fan be not working?, how do i tell if the fan is on?





ohhh yeah it is a samsung 112GB hardive , 7200rpm from my old compaq that recently died.

    The new drive is just quieter... there is no fan.

    The computer was designed to cool by convection... that's why all the ventilation slots on the top/back.
