Why MAC OSX takes longer to start up?

I noticed that MAC OSX takes longer to start up now than ever before. I have not increased the amount of programs and files since the time that the system was starting up quicker.

This as depends to. Some days it will start up fast and other day will take a while for the desktop to load all of it's elements.

Any help would be great thanks.

Check the login items listed in your account (System Preferences, Accounts). Also, do you have a wireless internet connection? Make sure yours is at the top of the Preferred list. Third in line is to restart in Safe Mode to flush out a flaky font cache. Other than that, there are some days when I don't startup very fast either...
