will zfs allow easy and safe concatenation?

hi all,

just got myself an external raid case and stripped out my old external 250gb drive and paired it with a new 500gb drive in the new case. in order to concatenate the drives into one i had to move a good 150gb to other places temporary, which was a mighty pain \ it seems to me that if zfs comes in leopard as one of the optional file systems i would be able to add my next disks very conveniently without having to reformat the drives. am i correct in thinking this? because if so; roll on zfs!

    Yes

I'd even assume that the ZFS pooling of storage is probably better than concatenation because of the parity features.

Has some nice info about zfpool and other ZFS features. Check it out.

    great great great!

fingers crossed it's in disk utility come october, even if it's not the main event!

any ideas if it will be possible to painlessly convert drives to zfs?

I'd ask Sun what ZFS will be capable of before asking Apple.
