Wifi Reception Range

I am interested in hearing how the Wifi reception is with the iPhone. Is it comparable to a laptop or do you need to stay close to basestation?

    Its about the same as a laptop, at least for me it has been. I have been outside the apple store and got service and I get it everywhere in my house and even outside it.

    It's not the phone that transmits signal it the base station. THe phone receives the signal. It will depend on your transmitter. Like an Airport extreme will transmit 300 feet so you'll be able to receive within about a 300 foot radius.
