This is so frickin' awesome.

Via WirelessWatchJapan a Canadian marketing firm is using QR codes in a series of advertisements in Toronto.

For those who don't know QR codes, or advanced barcoding, is a way to get information from a picture and drop it into your mobile.

So if I give you my business card it has a QR code on the back, you scan it with your camera and my contact data is automatically added to your address book.

Or if you see a flyer for a band with a QR code and scan it a new calendar item including the date, time, and location of their upcoming show in put in your mobile.

At the most advanced stage you scan a product's QR code and you allow your browser to open the product's webpage, click buy and your debit/credit card linked mobile automatically buy it once you authorize with a fingerprint, product is mailed, receipt is sent to your email?that, of course, will have to wait upon e-cash and the like.

However less advanced uses of QR code are still awesome. What the article doesn't mention, however, is whether there any mobiles in Canada that even have QR code software on them.
