Can you please help me buy an OLD IMAC for my daughter?
Hi folks. I need an IMAC running classic ONLY. I am looking on ebay for one. Can you direct me to an auction that is selling one?
Why do I want an OLD IMAC running CLASSIC ONLY?
1. It will be in my 3 year old.
2. I have a ton of old programs/grames-so old, they only work on classic OS.
3. I can get a great one for under $100.
4. It seems that the 400mhz run really slow on the new OS, so I want it strictly running in classic for now.
I can't seem to find an auction that shows an imac running classic. If it is upgraded to a new OS, can't I just do a re-install to get things back to factory settings?
Any help would be great! Thanks!!!

Yes. While you're on eBay, you might as well pick up a copy of OS 9.1. Chose the option that erases the HD when installing the OS.
The G3 iMacs, the eMacs, and the iMac G4's, I think, can all boot into classic. The G3 iMacs of 350Mhz and beyond has a revised analog board. I would recommend one of these for that reason alone. The analog board in the 233-333Mhz iMacs is buggy and prone to failure.

You should be able to pick up a cheap LCD or CRT screen for it.
Towers are easy enough to do upgrades yourself, it's just a case of folding it out and plugging in more Ram or a new drive or USB2 card.
If I was a 3 year old, I'd love to have one of these though:

It costs quite a bit more but still, I think it's one of the nicest designs I've seen in a computer plus it's fast enough to run OS X and that opens up a huge amount of software you can use. Even some of the newer games should work like the incredibles:
