iPhone connection to big screen?

Hi everyone,

I am looking for a plug that could connect the image of the iPhone to a big screen. I am making a presentation on the iPhone soon and I need to find this technology. I need something Steve Jobs used during the Macworld Keynote when he displayed the iPhone's image onto the big screen. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

the iPhone used during that demonstration was specially tailored for the event.

I didn't think there was an elegant solution, but if the cables above work, then.... that's it!

Otherwise, a low tech way to do this would be to simply put the iPhone in front of a video camera, and have the video camera's output go to the big screen.

You could just smear a jelly donut on the screen, which will project a 105" image onto your screen. There are how to instructions on the Apple website

What? I hope that's a joke, right? Has anyone actually tested out one of these cables? I just purchased one on eBay and I am hoping it'll work.

Some guys who have been hacking the iPhone found a file on it called demo which they believe is the app jobs used for his demo. They were able to output video from the iphone to a 15 inch LCD. If it's not working yet it will be soon one way or the other.

What do you mean that the file 'demo' is the app jobs used for his demo. How do I access this file? What is included in this file? Do you have a link to where I can find more information?

Nothing is public just a blog post on an iPhone hack website. When It's public how to access it I'll be sure and post that info. Here's the quote not sure about posting the link on this site if it's ok or not.

"There are some interesting projects going on by others not in the development group. One person has told me how they have discovered that the hidden Demo.app was most likely the same program that allowed Steve Jobs at the WWDC to broadcast the video output from his iPhone to a giant monitor for others to view everything he did. This source has also said they hooked their iPhone up to an iPod dock with an S-video port on it and were able to get their iPhone to output video and drive a 15" TV! Exciting stuff. "

So far I have file streaming from my mac pro to my iPhone which I posted about here

    http://forums.appleinsider.com/showthread.php?t=77178

Wireless tethering to my Powerbook where I get internet from EDGE which is beamed wirelessly to give my Powerbook internet.

    Custom Ringtones and backgrounds.

This phone is amazing now let's hope apple opens more of these things up publicly.

So with that being said, the connector that I bought probably won't work then?

Definetly won't. Did you read the google info? No video out currently on the phone even though it supports it. I'm sure it's to not compete with the video ipod. Hopefully these guys figure it out and make it easy to do.

Ah yes, you read that too. One of the more interesting hidden features to come out in recent days.

Come to think of it, how could they? The output jacks on the iPhone are strictly audio, including the output on the dock. There simply isn't any video signal that currently flows out of any iPhone orifice

The ads are misleading. They added "iPhone compatible" to the descript just to boost sales.

Just get a copy stand (or small tripod that can angle downwards) and fix a video camera pointing straight down. It will probably need to be manually focussed.

Project the output of the video camera.

This is the way Newton demos used to be done back in the day.

Ummm not true. There simply is no way to switch to video output at this time. The dock connector definetly carries video out.

Which is why I said "currently."

While the dock connector carries video, there's currently no way to tap into it, no video out.

    Perhaps in a future dock...
