iBook G3 power problem
Hi, I have a ibook g3 14" 900Mhz, the initial problem that this laptop had was that the trackpad was not responding nor were the usb ports, i opened it up and saw that the connections were fine, so i concluded that the problem must be with the hardware which needed replacing.
When i put the ibook back together again (not very well, i had some screws left over) i tried to turn it on with the battery attached (which was charged) but it would not turn on, i connected the power adapter and it turned on fine, running Mac OSX 10.3, there was evident activity when the power adapter was in, however when i took it out the ibook would turn off immediately, the power button does work as it gave me the shutdown options when the power adapter was in.
And also when the power adapter is in it goes from green to orange, which is strange as the battery stays at 75% charge.
I think that there must be something wrong with the the battery connections.
any help much appreciated.

Sterpin has some instructions for iBooks, maybe you can follow them and try to find where those "spare" screws are supposed to go.

Hi, thanks for the reply, i very carefully opened up the ibook again but this time i managed to locate the positions of the spare screws, so all is good in screw world. (not funny i know)
i looked at the connecter from the battery going up to the power button, there does not seem to be any loose connection or damage. would resetting the PMU do anything? if so how would this be done for this ibook, thanks

Well it doesn't really cost you anything to try resetting PMU. It probably doesn't help, but it's certainly worth a try. Are your trackpad and usb slots working now? If not, it sounds like an busted motherboard, and thats quite expensive to repair.
