Final Cut Pro 4 is close to release. It's in the final testing phases, so it's difficult to estimate when, precisely, it will hit the streets ... though I think it's safe to say that it should be in pro customers' hands the first half of this year.
Think Secret is in a bit of a skid these days, when it comes to making predictions. I do enjoy their site, but their 2003 Macworld predictions where almost a complete right off.
NAB, seems to be the next possible window : April 5-10.
Final Cut Express is at version 1.0.1, not 3 ... so it seems that it will have a seperate upgrade cycle from FCP.

Most people's predictions were totally off on MacWorld. I still find Think Secret to be mainly accurate. Rumour sites can't be accurate 100% of the time.
I want proper image sequence support. Having to make QT movies in QT Pro is just an extra step that shouldn't have to be done. I just want to import an image sequence and it take care of making it a clip.
QUARTZ extreme enchanced rendering will probably be included
look for it during the summertime, i bet <img src="graemlins/cancer.gif" border="0" alt="[cancer]" /> <img src="graemlins/cancer.gif" border="0" alt="[cancer]" /> <img src="graemlins/cancer.gif" border="0" alt="[cancer]" /> <img src="graemlins/cancer.gif" border="0" alt="[cancer]" />
7. FW800(I don't think it's as important as LR suggests)
8. Speed of course.
I look for FCP4 to pull away from FCP Express featurewise. A year is a long time for Apple to be working on FCP4. The acquisitions of 2002 should be apparent in ehancements to FCP4.
Yeah, titling in FCP has always been sub optimal , and FCP has support for 24fps and stuff like that through the addition of Cinema Tools for FCP....
I think FW800 is more of a system thing than a application thing, but it may not be, i just don t know
Compositioning is really good, but there are probably more things that could be done. Eventually, Apple will start selling a package deal of an entire editing and post production suite with display and software and computer and suches... <img src="graemlins/cancer.gif" border="0" alt="[cancer]" /> <img src="graemlins/cancer.gif" border="0" alt="[cancer]" />
Really want to see more realtime effects on the next release
I am guessing support for FW 800 maybe meaning RealTime output via Firewire....no need to render....if so that would be cool <img src="graemlins/cancer.gif" border="0" alt="[cancer]" />

I don't think we'll see it for quite some time as FCE was just released.

FCP was introduced in that conference and it would make sense to announce the new version there.
Wondering if the new version is written in Cocoa or not

<img src="graemlins/bugeye.gif" border="0" alt="[Skeptical]" /> support for a faster FireWire bus is the most important feature?
Back on topic...I hope it's at NAB if not sooner.

FCP probably needs
1. Support for 24P, DVCPRO50 and HD
2. Better Project Management
3. Support for Postscript Type 1 fonts
4. Beefed up compositing.
5. Better Titling
6. Improved Audio(CoreAudio??)
7. FW800(I don't think it's as important as LR suggests)
